Williams also founded the J.B. Williams Foundation, with the purpose of putting discovery into education.
Christopher Armstrong has been Vice President of Marketing with Williams Inference since 1988. He first read about Jim Williams in USA Today and was so intrigued by his "win at all costs" observations of cheating in the Boston marathon and the insider trading on Wall Street that he set up a lunch, which led to his hiring.
Armstrong has been a Professor of Sociology at Bloomsburg University since 1974. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania.
Regarding his inference work, he comments, "I feel this thinking has made me happier because it makes you very aware of change in your own life as well as changes in society. I feel more confident because I am not as likely to be blindsided by sudden changes either in my life or my portfolio."

Sydney Simpson has spent 25 years in corporate financial management positions in various industries that include: 10 years with a Fortune 100 multinational consumer products conglomerate; acquisition, divestiture and turnaround experience; expatriate assignments in Europe and Mexico. He was CFO of a privately-held software company in Ohio prior to joining Williams Inference in February of 1999.
Simpson graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.B.A. in Accounting and is a CPA.
Jim Williams founded Williams Inference in 1965. Today, the organization has more than 70 clients in North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia.
Discovery begins with an awareness of anomaly, says Williams.
Williams and his team of inference readers monitor more than 200 publications, seeking early warnings of change in attitudes, trends, and behavior that will ultimately affect the future fortunes of industry and individual companies.
How to become aware of anomaly?
Williams describes the experience by quoting a favorite passage from a Robert Frost essay:
[Poets] stick to nothing deliberately, but let what will stick to them like burrs where they walk in the fields. . .
John S Trudgian has been with Williams Inference for over fifteen years. He is Managing Partner for Europe, Asia and Australasia, and his clients include Citibank, Morgan Stanley and Fidelity Investments.
